Mary Savoye-DeSanti, RN, CD-N, CDE, is a registered dietitian, research associate, and certified diabetes educator at Yale University, School of Medicine. She has 20 years of experience in adult and childhood obesity and diabetes. She has developed the Bright Bodies Weight Management Program, a healthy lifestyle program for families with overweight children offered at Yale. The program utilizes the Smart Moves Weight Management Curriculum, which she has written along with a Smart Moves Start-Up Manual for institutions or practices offering weight management or healthy lifestyle education. Currently the curriculum is being used both nationally and internationally in several universities that specialize in childhood obesity.

 

Ms. Savoye-DeSanti has been published in medical journals including the Journal of the America Medical Association, the New England Journal of Medicine, and the Journal of the American Dietetics Association, in which she has reported her research. She has written chapters in textbooks on diabetes and has written scientific articles for Lippincott. Featured in magazines such as Nursing (cover) and Good Housekeeping, she has also appeared in local television, the Dr. Brazelton Show, and the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center Series, "The Doctor is In."


Ms. Savoye-DeSanti received her BS in Dietetics from Saint Joseph College in West Hartford, Connecticut, and currently attends Southern Connecticut State University where she pursues an MS in Community Counseling. She lives in Hamden, Connecticut , where she has a private practice in addition to her full-time clinical and research position at Yale.
